Mammoth Cave

A natural time capsule, and home to ancient fossil remains of long-extinct Australian Megafauna.

Mammoth Cave self-guided tours allow visitors to explore by themselves, while listening to an informative 'audio tour' available in English, French, German, Malay, or Mandarin.

Entering the cave through bushland via a gently sloping boardwalk, you'll realise just how much there is to see here. Over 10,000 fossils had at one time accumulated inside the cave; upon excavating many of these were found to be remains of Australian Megafauna (giant animals) that became extinct around 46,000 years ago. There is even a 50,000 year old 'zygomaturus' jawbone embedded in the cave wall! A visit to Mammoth Cave finishes with a winding walk through a beautiful marri and karri forest, Mammoth Cave is much more than a cave - it is a complete nature experience.

MEGAFAUNA NIGHTSTALK

This limited-time night tour offers a rare chance to explore Mammoth Cave after dark. Learn about the extinct megafauna that once roamed the region as you move through the cave, where their fossils were discovered more than 100 years ago.

As night falls, you’ll encounter lifelike replicas of these ancient creatures and hear stories of their lives and environments. The journey continues through the karri forest by torchlight, revealing the hidden sounds and sights of the forest at night!
